SAN DIEGO NKBA, LARGE BATH STAR AWARD WINNER! 2012
Two separate sink vanities are situated within the central core of the bathroom. A small makeup area with seating sits adjacent to one of the sinks. Angled cabinets store hair dryers, and curling irons, while drawers provide much needed space for makeup and toiletries. An art niche, adjacent to the makeup vanity, was created to high light a Buddha statue, creating a focal point in an otherwise dead corner. Using drawers as the base to elevate the statue created much needed storage for the homeowner. In the opposite corner glass and porcelain tile form a rectilinear pattern balancing the art niche on the other side.
A textured wire brushed oak cabinet was paired with cool white porcelains and glossy aqua marine tiles. The colors and textures where used to replicate the tones in the surrounding coastal environment. Verde Vuchia Granite was selected for the counters adding some organic movement to balance the angles in the surrounding architecture. Polished chrome fixtures and hardware shimmer from the glow of the pass thru fireplace. Contemporary mirrors were fabricated from old bi pass closet doors creating a crisp clean look at a fraction of the cost. A mix of pendant lighting and wall sconces were used to adequately light the space in a simple but elegant manner.
The coastal, elegant, spa like atmosphere brings this bathroom to life and creates a beautiful pleasing addition to the master bedroom suite and the rest of the home.
